Our Story

The Avila Family invites you to explore their exciting menu created from a collection of recipes featuring founders, Anita and Octavio Avila’s Mexican and Texan roots. Anita’s father owned and operated a grocery store in “Little Mexico” where the Sunday morning specials included menudo and lengua. Octavio was born in Parral Chihuahua and raised in Monterrey, near the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental. Culinary contributions reflect both northeastern and frontier Mexican-style dishes. Over the years, Anita and Octavio lovingly prepared their family’s specialties for their children, grandchildren and at family gatherings. In 1986 at retirement age, Anita and Octavio decided, with their children’s help, to fulfill their lifelong dream of opening a restaurant. Their dream has evolved into a Dallas favorite. While the original tried and true menu items have continued to dazzle, new flavorful dishes, such as a Mexican version of shrimp scampi and a bread pudding made with croissants and white chocolate, have garnered rave reviews.  Gluten-free, vegetarian entrees, fine tequilas, locally brewed beer and a small but well crafted wine list, are just a few of the additions that will satisfy all cravings. The Avila Family welcomes you. Buen Provecho!
